I, Emilie

My name is Émilie Schneider .

I am a pharmacist, and hold a master's degree in pharmaceutical biotechnology.

For several years, I worked in the pharmaceutical industry, in a stimulating and methodical environment. Yet, without being fully aware of it, I felt a kind of disconnect: the feeling that my work, however interesting it was, was not in line with what I truly wanted to contribute to the world.

My pregnancy, followed by my parental leave, offered me a rare opportunity. Away from the professional pace, I could take the time to reflect, to find meaning in my choices, and to reconnect with what deeply motivates me: using science to take concrete action on the well-being of living things.

It was at that moment that equine nutrition naturally emerged as a clear and obvious choice. It's a field at the intersection of my scientific skills, my passion for horses, and my desire to have a real impact on their health and well-being.

I undertook a career change and completed a degree program in equine nutrition, in order to acquire a solid scientific foundation and be able to offer rigorous support, based on objective data.

Her, Simiane

Simiane du Moulin came into my life in February 2023. At seventeen years old, she was leaving behind a long career as a school horse, after carrying riders of all levels through several disciplines (with a real talent for show jumping 👸🏻).

Generous, intelligent and diligent, she is the kind of horse who seems to read the line and think ahead in order to jump better. What struck me most about her from the very beginning was her mindset: a true fighter, who never gives up.

Unfortunately, as is the case for most horses, years of work have left their mark: chronic joint and ligament inflammation, back pain, muscular stiffness, fracture after-effects, osteoarthritis…

Through her, I rediscovered the importance of observation, listening, and questioning my assumptions. In order to understand and ease her discomfort, I explored every aspect of her daily life: her environment, hoof care, training, treatments, and of course, her diet.

It was while trying to offer her a better balance that I discovered just how deeply nutrition could influence a horse’s health and comfort.

Why is your "mill" blue ?

You may have guessed it:  “Moulin” is for Simiane.
But why blue?

If I chose to make nutrition my profession, it was to have a broader impact: for the well-being of all horses, not only my own. And before Simiane, another mare helped pave the way: Penelope.

She is where it all truly began. Penelope was the first horse with whom I was able to build a relationship based on trust. With her, I was able to move beyond my fears, understand the importance of groundwork, and redefine my vision of horsemanship. With her calm nature, maturity and gentleness, she showed me that connection is built through consistency and respect for the other’s pace.

And Penelope’s “real” name is Pin-Up Bleue...
